Traditional baskets handwoven by rajna begum
Rajna learned to weave from her grandmother over 30 yeras ago. They would cut down bamboo trees from their backyard and make baskets for rice farmers in Moulvibazar, Bangladesh. Traditionally the baskets are used to harvest and wash vegetables, rice, seeds and fish. Women of Banglatown recognized the beautiful artistry she brought with her to America. Supporting Rajna's work will help her provide for her family and allow us to grow the project by teaching additional Bengali women here in Detroit.
